The Captains is such a wonderful holiday cottage, in prime position for loads of exploring. We hugely enjoyed our stay. The cottage is lovely and cosy, with loads of character and great views. Comfortable, and beautifully decorated with local artefacts – it’s great to see so many wonderful paintings of the local area on the walls – which turn out to be done by the owner! It’s an excellent base for travelling to the many local beaches, particularly Farr beach and Torrisdale bay. Walks can be as long or short as you’d like them to be and you’re still able to do an awful lot of exploring without getting in the car. Bettyhill is a lovely little town, with a very convenient local shop & post office as well as a wonderful café, The Store. We will definitely be returning!.

I have stayed at The Captains twice and found it warm and comfortable with nice furniture in the lounge, two good sized bedrooms, a decent bathroom and a well equipped kitchen area. The off-roading parking and EV charger is useful too. The Captains is situated on a main road, giving good access to the local area and beyond.

Great place to stay and easy reach and good walk to one of the best beaches I have ever been to through the Bronze and Iron Age history. Easy walk into town for dinner too.

Nice spot, beautiful view from the house and the interior is well furnished. Just a bit too close to the road (it's part of the NC500, so it can be quite busy).

Homely cottage in a beautiful location,. Short walk to shop and places to eat in Bettyhill and the wonderful Farr Bay beach. Well equipped and spotlessly clean. Would definitely stay again

The cottage is extremely well equipped and to a high specification in all things - I love the kettle! - and it exactly fitted our needs; to be near to the coast and have some warmth and peace. A beautiful spot and very comfortable. Very easy to find but perhaps, not quite so much detail in the directions needed, as almost causes a confusion because it is a very prominent and obvious cottage on the roadside with the colourful buoys hanging on the white wicket fence.....just like the picture.

Stunning location which was conveniently close to where my colleague was working. The house was comfortable and had lots of extra touches which made the stay top class

We chose The Captains for a quiet, restorative week and it we enjoyed our stay here. we loved the view and the peaceful area. It was a bit tricky to find in the dark (map took us down a wrong street), but the hosts instructions made it easy to get to the right place and we appreciated the décor outside the home so we knew we were in the right spot.

A super atmospheric place - the house finished in every detail gives it a unique character. The location right next to the NC500 route is also a unique plus. I highly recommend

Last minute booking and very pleasantly surprised. The outside photos don't do it justice!. Excellent quality of fittings inside. We had a incident which was brilliantly managed by the host. Bettyhill is very nice. Small store in walkable distance and also a excellent small café near it. Very nice beach too!. Well located for travel towards Cape Wrath or Duncansby.
